Plastic Coating Capabilities
Although our primary expertise is in sheet metal fabricating, over the years Apex has developed a significant business painting plastic parts for OEM’s and injection molding houses in the Northwest. As with our fabricating business, Apex paints plastic parts for companies in the high tech, medical, aerospace and similar industries.
EMI-RFI-ESD Shielding
Apex specializes in spraying nickel or copper/silver metallized paint onto plastic parts. As part of the shielding process, we perform intricate masking, either manually or using special masking fixtures owned by our customers, when needed.
Our shielding process is capable of achieving resistance readings of less than one ohm per square inch, which is adequate to meet most customers’ requirements.
For larger quantities, it is generally advantageous to purchase special masking fixtures in lieu of relying on hand masking. We work with top quality tool making specialists to develop tooling that meets your exact masking requirements.
Apex is certified by Underwriter Laboratories to apply metallized paint to certain plastic substrates. If your metallized paint/substrate combination is not already certified, we will work with you to get the necessary certification.

Cosmetic Spray Painting
As noted above, Apex has extensive experience painting plastic parts. We generally use Sherwin-Williams Polane products, unless otherwise specified by our customers. Sherwin-Williams can match any color you specify at their local facility.
We are known for achieving high cosmetic standards in everything
we paint, and know you will be pleased by our prices and service
level.
